In comments to MeidasTouch news reporter Pablo Manríquez, Reps. Lauren Boebert and Anna Paulina Luna said they reviewed the unredacted Epstein files on Monday and plan to return Tuesday to examine additional materials, describing documents they say list co-conspirators connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
Both lawmakers broke with Trump on the treatment of Ghislaine Maxwell, rejecting clemency or any form of special treatment for the convicted Epstein associate.
Asked whether she supported clemency, Boebert said, “I do not. I think Ghislaine Maxwell should get more time and she should definitely be in a harsher prison than what she’s in. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
Luna shared that position, stating, “According to the files that we all saw she was engaged in the trafficking and also rape of young women and potentially children,” Luna added, “I don’t think that she deserves any special treatment. She’s a monster.”
The Department of Justice has not arrested anyone since Donald Trump returned to office.
Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert sharply rejected Ghislaine Maxwell’s call for clemency, saying that the convicted former associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein should be in jail for longer and in harsher conditions.
Maxwell pleaded the Fifth on Monday during her testimony before Congress via videolink. But Maxwell’s lawyer said she is willing to speak openly about Epstein if President Donald Trump grants her clemency.
“I think Ghislaine Maxwell should get more time and she should definitely be in a harsher prison than what she’s in. It’s absolutely disgusting,” Boebert said.
Boebert made the comments after she and other lawmakers visited a Justice Department office on Monday to look through unredacted versions of the files on Epstein that the department released to comply with a law passed by Congress last year.
Boebert indicated she would be back to view more files on Tuesday. She said there are “folks who are definitely implicated and co-conspirators” and “I don’t think everyone there that was talking about underage girls being trafficked are victims.”
Anna Paulina Luna has strongly condemned Ghislaine Maxwell, calling her a “monster” and emphasizing that she is “not a victim, she is an ACCOMPLICE” in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case. After reviewing unredacted Epstein files in February 2026, Luna stated that Maxwell was involved in the “trafficking and rape of young women, and possibly children” and deserves “no clemency and no mercy.”
Luna criticized Maxwell’s attempt to condition testimony on receiving clemency from President Trump, tweeting: “NO CLEMENCY. You comply or face punishment.” She also described Maxwell as “manipulative, calculated, sociopathic” and insisted she “knew EXACTLY what she was doing.” Luna has consistently opposed any special treatment or pardon for Maxwell, aligning with bipartisan criticism of her actions.
